"Chasing" is an award-winning short film about online gambling addiction that shines a light on the problems that arise when isolation occurs and the chase begins. A narrative fiction short, the film dives headfirst into a solemn pit of emotion.

I began working on this project with writer, actor, and director Steven Calvert in my last year of university. Given the themes of addiction, hopelessness, and helplessness, we settled on a bleak colour palette.
As the film takes place mostly in the protagonist’s bedroom, the desired effect was a prison cell of his own making. Visually, I opted to keep it simple to let the emotional impact shine.
“Chasing” opens with our protagonist hovering over a running stream and sets the tone for the rest of the film to be on-edge.
